Living Heritage -Intangible Cultural Heritage
People have at all times sung, danced, told stories, celebrated holidays and created crafts, in all generations and in all cultures, all of which are part of our intangible cultural heritage. In the Land of Legends, we focus on the oral storytelling tradition in the form of fairy tales and legends, among others, which are thus part of our intangible cultural heritage. We know that the origin of some folk and fairy tales can be traced back over millennia. It is thus an ancient cultural heritage that we want to cherish and safeguard and pass on to the next generation.
In 2018, The Land of Legends Sweden was included in UNESCO’s Register of Good Safeguarding Practices. We were then the 20th place in the world to be included in this very fine register and the first that Sweden nominated to this convention.
